Jaguar Lightweight E-type #5

My painting depicts Peter Lindner in Jaguar Lightweight E-Type #5 moments before the fateful accident in the 1,000 kms race at Montlhery on October 11th 1964.
Weather was dreadful with rain and violent wind, the track soaking wet with deep puddles causing several accidents through aquaplaning. After 84 laps Peter Lindner was in 8th position when exiting the banking for the straight at 150mph, he aquaplanes into the stationary Abarth-Simca 1300 of Franco Patria, both drivers are killed together with flag marshals Jean Pairad, Rene Dumoulin and Roger Millot.
The painting was sold at the 2011 Andrew Whyte Lecture, all proceeds donated to NSPCC and Macmillan Nurses.
