In May 2002, Stuart Spencer retired from Jaguar Cars after 19 years service of which twelve years he was the Design Studio Manager.

Stuart started his career as an apprentice in the printing trade at a Birmingham advertising agency, where he specialised in typography and airbrush illustration. In 1966, he joined Rootes Motors as a technical Illustrator in their engineering department. Rootes were taken over by Chrysler UK and subsequently by Peugeot, Talbot, Citroen where Stuart worked in the advanced design studio.

In 1983, when Peugeot moved their design studio to Paris, Stuart joined Jaguar Cars, towards the end of his Jaguar employment he was for two years also responsible for the Aston Martin Design Studio.

In 1974, Stuart's wife Mary set up a company, Spencer Trauts, to market his artwork which was being requested worldwide. Since then, his artwork has been published in many books and international magazines such as Motor and Autocar, Quattroruote, Automobile Magazine, Motoring News and Autosport.

In addition to Stuart's loyal base of private customers, his other clients include Jaguar Land Rover, Ford Motors, General Motors, SAAB, Peugeot, Audi, Alitalia, Martini and the Royal Automobile Club.

He has exhibited at the Detroit Henry Ford Academy, Goodwood Revival and Festival of Speed, Alexandra Palace, The Mall Galleries, Gaydon, The British Museum of Transport, British Motor Shows, Race Retro, Donington, Brooklands and Silverstone Raceways.
