Stuart prefers to use acrylic paints because they use the same pigments as oils and water colours but are bound in a synthetic medium, a transparent water emulsion of acrylic polymer resin. As a result acrylic paints have qualities that set them apart. They will not yellow, go mouldy or brittle, they dry within minutes and remain water resistant.
For convenience he works from photographs, painting onto poly/cotton canvas or canvas board which has been protected with acid free size. |
